Our Non-Understanding of Everything is a series of videos that explore how the structures of architecture, semiconductors, and circuits become forms of expression reflecting hierarchies, cognitive processes, and relationships to the natural environment.
The project is the daily practice of observation, questioning and switching perspectives in order to understand our relationship to our tech-devices and their existence in the world. Motivated by finding ways to imagine what our smart phones want from us and if we can communicate with them, we are using our natural and human built environments to possibly entertain, relax and stimulate the technical devices, that so profoundly influence our conception of the universe and our relation to it.
The conception of this project started during Covid lockdown in Taipei 2021 in close collaboration with lololol.net (Sheryl Cheung and Xia Lin). Parts of this project were made possible through the support of a Fulbright Scholarship 2021 & by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature. Fiscal Sponsorship for this grant was provided by Wave Farm. eteam further received assistance through a PSC-CUNY grant and a City College of New York 2023 Rifkind Center Fellowship.
There are 16 videos planned for this series. New videos will be added to this compilation as they are completed.
