Roundabout featuring Videobrasil

Date
Roundabout featuring Videobrasil

Join us on Thursday, April 24 at 6pm, for the fourth edition of Roundabout, VDB's ongoing screening series at the Gene Siskel Film Center in which we invite fellow moving image archives and distributors to collaborate on a conversational program of short experimental works, prompting them to respond to a selection of works from VDB’s collection with a selection from their own.

This program's collaborator is Videobrasil (Associação Cultural Videobrasil), established by Solange O. Farkas in 1991 and born of the desire for an institution to house a growing body of artworks and publications amassed since the first edition of Festival Videobrasil (current Biennial Sesc_Videobrasil), in 1983. Ever since, Associação has been working systematically to activate this collection comprising artworks from the world’s Geopolitical South, video art classics, its own productions, and a vast collection of art publications. Apart from the Biennial, held every two years, Associação carries out international art shows, traveling exhibitions, publications, TV shows, the Videobrasil Authors Collection documentaries, as well as seminars and workshops.

You can read Newcity magazine's April 2025 feature on Videobrasil, and their interview with Solange O. Farkas below:
